got out of running for a week but somehow today got myself to get up and do the thing. Lately I’ve just been doing 3mi/5k runs. My third mile was my fastest today by a significant margin. Really proud of that!
pt.2: putting this here to remind myself: i was feeling off and not great about myself and getting up and doing the run did help—and not in like an I fixed it way but just like knowing it’s something I can do that helps me

ran with K after work and it felt really good! which I wasn’t expecting physically. we did the 3mi tgp loop and I was able to keep up a convo almost the entire time. craziest part of all is that it was only a little slower than I the pace I ran by myself a couple days before.
work has been intense again and it was a great mental transition to run and chat with someone after

ran at the gym this morning--physically felt much better than humidity but it was less emotionally satisfying than running outside

didn't run last week cuz I was traveling in first half then I returned to the land of the corn sweats and simply refused then went on another (supa fun) weekend trip
I re-realize that I can't really dedicate the time to training for a long race, but I do love a 5k and the idea of getting faster at those is exciting to me. The bad part of that is that I'm less afraid of them which takes away from some of the motivation. The good part is it felt really good to start training a couple weeks ago and i crave doing it again--the development of a healthy habit!

back on Strava and it did feel crazy at first. There are a couple of ppl I was close with in college but drifted from (it was covid times) who are really active on there. A pleasant surprise has been getting kudos from a some of them (especially ones who unfollowed me on insta). As far as I’m concerned this means we’re all good. happy closure.
As for the running itself: oof humidity. I’ve been going on morning runs which are lovely once you actually get out of bed. It’s the best way to ensure I actually do the run before I get too busy. I’m realizing tho that even tho it is like the coolest part of the day it can still be super humid. My pace has been slower than I anticipated. It’s probably true that I am more out of shape than I realized, but I am also curious how much the humidity is making it worse. I saw on the internet that it’s a common thing to become a lot faster in the fall after training thru a hothumidsummer. I would like to experience that.
